'My Confidence is There'
When asked how she felt after media day, Catalon's response was as smooth as her jumper.
"I felt really good," she said. "My shot was falling. I felt like I was being a good leader on the court. So I feel really good going into the season. My confidence is there."
That confidence was hard-earned. Last season, Catalon made waves with a string of standout performances — including a memorable stretch of three straight 20-point games. But just as she was finding her rhythm, an untimely injury sidelined her.
“Honestly, last year when I had, like, three straight 20-point games, I was really feeling myself,” she reflected. “But, unfortunately, I got hurt. But it’s okay because we got back rolling after the injury.”
Now, fully recovered and refocused, Catalan looks ready to pick up right where she left off.
A Backcourt Full of Potential
Several opposing teams around the conference are already noticing Seton Hall's backcourt is loaded with potential. Humbly, Catalon agreed, that their backcourt is among one of the best in the country, let alone conference. She highlighted that the team's depth and versatility will be key points to build on throughout the season.
“This upcoming season, I just want us to have a healthy season,” she said. “I feel like with all of our players staying healthy, we have all those weapons on the court. Our team has a whole bunch of versatility — on the bench and in our starting five. If we stick to that and stick to what we’re good at, we’re going to be very good.”
That versatility — paired with experience and chemistry — could make the Pirates a legitimate contender in the Big East.
Accountability and a Winning Mentality
Seton Hall narrowly missed the tournament last season, something Catalon and her teammates haven’t forgotten. When asked about expectations, she was direct.
“Expectations are just, I mean, hold each other accountable,” she said. “At the end of the day, we have to win those games that we know we can win. Even in those big games where we’re the underdog, we have to come in with a winning mentality.”
That hunger and focus may define the Pirates’ identity this season — a group that’s no longer satisfied with “almost.”
Her "Sh3GotGame Moment"
When Catalon reflected on her defining "Sh3GotGame Moment" , the point in her career when she knew she belonged, she didn't hesitate.
“Last year, when I had three straight 20-point games,” she said with a smile. “I was really feeling myself.”
That stretch wasn’t just a personal milestone — it was a glimpse of what’s to come. With her confidence back, her health restored, and her leadership growing, Savannah Catalon is ready to lead Seton Hall into a new era — one built on accountability, versatility, and belief.
