The New York Liberty (28-6) is ranked the very best throughout the league, they showed an example of their dominance this past Thursday night. The Liberty pulled away in the final quarter in a relatively close game with the Seattle Storm (20-14), 77-70. This season, that Liberty win secured the sweep over the Storm. At this point of the season, it feels as if all the stars are aligning at the right time for the Liberty. The Liberty are gaining health and it appears the team chemistry is growing tremendously. With the playoffs rapidly approaching and That said, the Liberty understands as the No.1 team in the league, there’s a target on their back heading into the playoffs.

Positive Liberty Takeaways
In this game, Liberty star center Jonquel Jones set her single-game high for blocks in a Liberty uniform with five while becoming the fifth player in Liberty franchise history to record at least five blocks and three three-pointers in a single game. Jones finished with 15 points on 63% (5-8) shooting from the field and 60% (3-5) from beyond the arc to go along with a game-high eight rebounds. She was accompanied by Sabrina Ionescu who pitched in with 17 points, eight assists, and six rebounds. Ionescu has proven to be a force throughout the league, however the respect for her game and amongst peers continues to grow.
“Absolutely, like Skylar said, our goal is to compete for a championship,” Seattle Storm star forward Gabby Thomas explained. “So we have to embrace those challenges, … that’s again why this is so frustrating because we kind of accomplished our goals tonight, but things we normally do we didn’t execute well tonight.”

In this game, Ionescu extended her streak of making a three-point in regular season games to 57, per NYL Stats. She holds the second-longest streak in the WNBA history.
